Die Verschiebung von Grand Theft Auto IV auf den Zeitraum Februar 2008 bis April 2008 wird den Abverkauf der PlayStation3 in diesem Weihnachtsgeschäft in Mitleidenschaft ziehen.
Das prognostiziert Michael Pachter, Analyst von Wedbush Morgan Securities. Er denkt, dass die Veröffentlichung des Spiels im nächsten Jahr für Sony vielleicht einen Anreiz darstellt, den Konsolenpreis nochmals zu senken.
Auf die Xbox360-Verkäufe soll sich die Verspätung hingegen kaum auswirken, weil u.a. Halo 3 erscheint. Insgesamt hofft Take 2, im ersten Jahr ungefähr 10 Mio. Einheiten von Grand Theft Auto IV verkaufen zu können - eine Hälfte für Xbox360, die andere für PS3.
